Warranty Periods

All PLANO bags purchased in Australia or New Zealand, on or after 4th July 2022, come with a minimum limited manufacturer’s warranty for a period of 1 year from the date of purchase (“Limited Warranty”).  1 year means 365 calendar days calculated from the date of purchase listed on the original purchase receipt. If the original purchase receipt is not available, 1 year shall mean 365 days calculated from the date of the original manufacture.

All PLANO molded products purchased in Australia or New Zealand, on or after 4th July 2022 (“PLANO Premium Products”), come with a limited lifetime manufacturer’s warranty (“Limited Lifetime Warranty”).

Limited Lifetime Warranty means the market life of the relevant PLANO Premium Product.  As long as the PLANO Premium Product is still manufactured by Abu Garcia Pty Ltd trading as Pure Fishing Australia (Pure Fishing AU) and replacement parts remain available with Pure Fishing AU (if purchased in Australia) or Pure Fishing NZ Limited (Pure Fishing NZ) (if purchased in New Zealand), the relevant PLANO Premium Product remains covered by the Limited Lifetime Warranty.  In the event that the PLANO Premium Product is manufactured only in Australia when a warranty claim is made in New Zealand (or vice versa), you will be liable for any international shipping costs for the product/replacement part/s and those costs will only be incurred with your express permission.

Limited Warranty and Limited Lifetime Warranty – Australia

Subject to the limitations and exclusions set out in paragraph 5 below, Pure Fishing AU, as the manufacturer and distributor of PLANO products in Australia, will repair defects in materials and/or workmanship in a product or replace the faulty product with an identical product (and/or pay compensation), provided that:

  • the PLANO product is still within its relevant warranty period;
  • you cover the cost of shipping charges to and from Pure Fishing AU’s service facility; and
  • you are the original purchaser and present your original proof of purchase.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

In all cases, Pure Fishing AU will fairly assess and determine whether repair, replacement or refund is appropriate in respect of any claim you make.

Each of the Limited Warranty and Limited Lifetime Warranty is in addition to and does not limit any rights of a consumer under the Australian Consumer Law against the relevant product’s manufacturer, supplier and/or retailer.

Limited Warranty and Limited Lifetime Warranty – New Zealand

Subject to the limitations and exclusions set out in paragraph 5 below, Pure Fishing NZ, as the importer and distributor of PLANO products in New Zealand, will repair defects in materials and/or workmanship in a product or replace the faulty product with an identical product, provided that:

  • the PLANO product is still within its relevant warranty period;
  • you cover the cost of shipping charges to and from Pure Fishing NZ’s service facility (where required); and
  • you are the original purchaser and present your original proof of purchase.

Each of the Limited Warranty and Limited Lifetime Warranty given by Pure Fishing NZ is in addition to and does not limit any rights of a consumer under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 against the product’s supplier/retailer and Pure Fishing NZ as the importer and/or distributor.

Limitations and Exclusions

Each of the Limited Warranty and the Limited Lifetime Warranty does not extend to any PLANO products (including PLANO Premium Products) purchased for commercial or rental use.

Each of the Limited Warranty and the Limited Lifetime Warranty does not cover damage caused by addition to, or alterations of the product, accident, abuse, improper use, neglect, normal wear and tear or aesthetic changes to the product’s appearance due to outdoor exposure and/or chemical exposure.  Damage that is determined to be of this nature will be repaired at the consumer’s expense (with the express permission of the consumer).

Each of the Limited Warranty and the Limited Lifetime Warranty does not cover foam parts and/or included hardware (such as dividers, handles, wheels and/or fasteners) (“Included Hardware”) which are part of any PLANO product.  Each of Pure Fishing AU and Pure Fishing NZ warrants against defects in materials and workmanship in respect of foam parts and/or Included Hardware for a period of 90 days from the date of purchase when purchased in Australia or New Zealand on or after 4th July 2022.

How to make a claim Australia

To make a claim under the Limited Warranty or Limited Lifetime Warranty, please first empty any equipment out of your PLANO product (including PLANO Premium Product) and take photos of the fault you are submitting a warranty claim for along with your proof of purchase and the Plano parts/warranty form (available here) and email these documents to: fishingspares@purefishing.com.

Pure Fishing AU will then be in contact with you on the next steps to progress your claim, which may include return of your product (with proof of purchase, details of the problem, your name and contact details) to the retailer from whom you purchased the product, or return of the product directly to Pure Fishing AU’s service department at:

Please ensure you obtain a tracking number for your shipment and package your PLANO product carefully (using the original packaging if available) to avoid any damage during transit.  You shall be responsible for all costs of shipping/delivery to and from the retailer and/or relevant service facility and you bear all risks in relation to your PLANO product during transit. Pure Fishing AU will not be liable for any repairs or replacements to your PLANO product arising as a result of damage during transit.

How to make a claim New Zealand

To make a claim under the Limited Warranty or Limited Lifetime Warranty, please first empty any equipment out of your PLANO product (including PLANO Premium Product) and then return it along with your proof of purchase, details of the problem, your name and contact details to the retailer from whom you purchased the product in order for them to initiate the warranty process with Pure Fishing NZ.

You shall be responsible for all costs of shipping/delivery to and from the retailer and/or relevant service facility and you bear all risks in relation to your PLANO product during transit. Pure Fishing NZ will not be liable for any repairs or replacements to your PLANO product arising as a result of damage during transit.
